The scales of Crocodile

Provide a place with a soft, warm surface. Ask your child to lay in prone position. He or she is Crocodile for a moment.

Crocodile lies still on his belly, with his legs firmly together and his head in his arms; that way he sees nothing.

You take a seat next to Crocodile, with a supply of clothespins within reach. Explain that these are Crocodile's scales.

Grab a set of clothespins and settle in a spot with a soft surface.
Enjoy this moment of connection between you!

Tell your preschooler what you are going to do:

"In a moment I will make crocodile scales on your back. I will do this by pinning a whole number of clothespins on your back. I will do this as quietly as I can, without talking. When you say STOP, I may not add any more. Only by feeling carefully can you find out how many scales you got. Will you guess the right number?

Make it clear when the game starts: say 'Are you ready? START!

Tip:
Don't overdo it with the number of wax pins. Keep in mind your child's counting skills.
