Can you taste it?

We tasted different fruits in class today. Because tasting is not always easy, we do it in small steps. We pay attention not only to the end result (eating and swallowing), but also see all the intermediate successes: holding, smelling, licking, taking a small piece in the mouth. Using the scheme your child was given, practice these intermediate steps further at home.

You can use thisĀ scheme for all kinds of foods. We will help you get started with these cards. Be sure to complete according to your child's tastes!
Tasting new things is scary. A fruit or vegetable that is not yet well known looks crazy to a little child, feels weird on the tongue and often smells strange. All senses are used to judge whether this new food is okay to eat. Moreover, a new taste often needs to be tasted several times before habituation occurs.
Do not force food, but make small intermediate steps in this learning process. Look for intermediate steps that your child can master.
Smell it once, put it on the tongue, but perhaps not swallow it in the first step?
With the Junglemaatjes tasting chart, tasting not only becomes a lot more achievable for your preschooler, but also fun!
